Men of Poker: Phil Hellmuth Phil Hellmuth was born in Madison, WI on July 16, 1964. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful tournament poker players of all time, and has won more money in tournaments in the last 10 years than any other player. He has a record nine gold bracelets, and was until recently tyed with Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan. Despite all this luck and success, the shame of the matter is that as great a player as Phil is, he is generally known as the whiner of poker - and this poor attitude is what the public remembers most about him.
