Chris Moneymaker's
Poker History
Chris
Moneymaker was the underdog from Tennessee who won the 2003 World
Series. He won his entry into the tournament by playing a $40 satellite
at PokerStars and ended up winning $2,500,000. Many people think
Chris won because he got lucky, but he definitely seemed to play
a solid game and was able to get very aggressive - unlike the previous
year's amateur winner, Robert Varkhoni, who only seems to be able
to play good when he has pocket Aces and got knocked out the first
day of the 2003. Chris donated $25,000 of his winnings to cancer
research.
